Favorite Flies
After destroying many feather
dusters for really good Chinese rooster hackles, then bleaching and dying
them, they eventually end up on my hooks. Hopefully, the hook then magically
attaches itself to a trout. I’ve always preferred a quilled fly because
of its great buoyancy. Most quills marketed nowadays are over-bleached and
crack even after a good soaking. Using a stop bath after bleaching prevents
this problem.
